A powerful and enigmatic master of alchemy rumored to be 200 years old, residing in the Al-Fayoum oasis. He understands the "Soul of the World" and waits for the person worthy of receiving his secrets, serving as a distinct mentor figure.
Santiago (The Boy)
An adventurous young shepherd from Andalusia who rejects the priesthood to travel the Spanish countryside with his sheep. Driven by a recurring dream of hidden treasure near the Egyptian pyramids, he courageously leaves his familiar life behind to pursue his "Personal Legend."
Melchizedek (The King of Salem)
A mysterious and wise old man who appears to Santiago in the town plaza of Tarifa. Dressed in strange clothing and wearing a magical golden breastplate, he possesses supernatural knowledge of Santiago's past and plays a pivotal role in inspiring the boy.
The Crystal Merchant
A struggling shop owner in Tangier who hires Santiago after the boy falls on hard times. He is a devout Muslim who dreams of making a pilgrimage to Mecca but is paralyzed by his fear of change and success.
The Englishman
An educated and bookish scholar traveling with the caravan to the Al-Fayoum oasis. He is obsessed with the technical aspects of alchemy and seeks to find a legendary alchemist who can teach him how to turn lead into gold.
Fatima
A beautiful young woman who lives at the Al-Fayoum oasis and collects water from the well every day. She becomes Santiago's love interest and supports his quest, believing that true love should not stop a person from pursuing their destiny.
